Starting from January 12, you are kindly invited to attend an exhibition "Bathhouse Things" at Ventspils Crafts House. The exhibition comprises works by members of the Association of Decorative Machine Stitching of the Chamber of Trades and Crafts of Latvia. The exhibition "Bathhouse Things" will be exciting for those who love different bathhouse rituals, especially in bitter frost when holidays in Bali cannot give that much joy as good wallowing in the snow shortly after a sauna. Besides, in bathhouse one not only needs add some steam, but also to use besoms, tea bags, linen shirts and towels, sauna hats and slippers. All these things and more you will see during the exhibition.
The Association of Decorative Machine Stitching, which consists of more than 70 members from different regions in Latvia, was founded in 1995. Machine stitching has been popular in Latvia since 1920s. During the exhibition, one can also get practical experience in decorative stitching, participating in museum education classes "Crafts in the Past and Today". Classes will take place on Wednesdays from 10.30 am till 12.00 noon and on Saturdays from 12.00 noon till 1.30 pm. The first class will be conducted on January 13 and starts at 10.30 am.
